Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, in Lynn Massachusetts. The actress was the first child born to Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. In her early years, Ruth Roman's father, a carnival barker, passed away, which made her mother Mary Pauline (Gold), to become a waitress or cleaner in order for them to be able to survive. Ruth lived in a tenement community that was poor in Boston, Massachusetts, where she attended school. She quit school in just two years in order to study acting. It was not without challenges. When she was offered a job as a model in New York as a model for a magazine that dealt with detectives, she found it difficult to secure jobs on stage. After that, she was a hat check girl at the nightclub before calling it quits and returning to Boston. She worked as an usherette during the early morning hours and also was a part of the New England Repertory Company by evening, her first acting position that was permanent. She earned a bachelor's certificate in drama at Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
